The Cutest Little Apron You Ever Did See

My friend and I attended a sewing class held one night this week at a local small business.

Our assignment was simple:  bring two yards of coordinating fabric, thread and a sewing machine. Little did I know it would be a night of much-needed creativity and encouragement.

Tonya, the owner, is a very sweet woman with a beautiful heart – and the patience of a saint.

She spent a long time teaching us two newbies how to make this adorable apron:

Isn’t it darling?

I learned SOOO much from Tonya about the right way to sew.

Repeat after me:  rotary cutters are GENIUS.

Not only that, somewhere during the process of making this little cutie, the three of us bonded.

OK, so snacking on my friend’s delicious homemade blondies didn’t hurt either:)

I don’t have the pattern to share with you, but I do want to encourage you to schedule some time to do something creative that you enjoy, preferably in the company of other women.

I drove home that night feeling refreshed and encouraged. Plus, I had an adorable little something I made (mostly) by myself to show for it.

The next day, I was noticeably calmer and more peaceful as I returned to my roles as wife, mom, teacher, parent, etc., etc.

My advice? Don’t wait until you are burned out. Take a little bit of time here and there to recharge and you’ll be all the better for it.

PS In case you are wondering, the store I was talking about is called Tonya’s Totes in the quaint little village of Vicksburg, Michigan. Tonya is one talented lady who happens to make the most wonderful purses and totebags – and they’re all custom-made. I don’t receive any benefit for saying that, other than to encourage someone who I think does excellent work:)

  1. Caty told me about your post and that you went to Tonya’s Totes. She knows where it is…we’ll have to go check it out. The only place we’ve visited in our new hometown is the consignment shop, which is wonderful!! You should come and check it out! 🙂

  2. Your apron is so cute. And I love the ruffles and the flower. I so enjoy your blog. I don’t think I could say it enough. Even if I commented after everything you post.
