Words matter.

What you say and how you say it really matter.

Before you speak, ask yourself three questions:

Are my words kind?

Are my words true?

Are my words necessary?

Amy Carmichael, a missionary that served orphans in India for more than half a century, reportedly asked herself those three questions before she spoke.

The Bible has much to say about our words. Proverbs 18:21a has this to say about words:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Before you speak today, stop and ask yourself if your words are kind, true and necessary.

  1. I just love reading your blog! Todays post made me think of my mom & mee maw and how they would instill “if you can’t say anything nice don’t say anything at all”. I on the other hand have told my kids “Is it really going to matter in 10 or even 100 years? – If not than just drop it because it isn’t worth repeating or arguing over!” Looking forward to your next post. Have a blessed week.

    • Thank you so much for sharing. That, too, is some great advice:)
