An Evening of Worship

Last night our church held an event for women called, “An Evening of Worship”.

It was led by some extremely gifted and godly people. The intent was to glorify God and to give Him the praise and honor He alone so greatly deserves.

The highlight for me was the cardboard testimonies.

Don’t know what they are?

More than 30 ordinary women wrote who they were before Christ on one side of a piece of cardboard. And who they are now in Christ on the other. Or, they wrote about a specific problem that Christ has helped them overcome.

One by one and without saying a word, woman after woman bared her soul to share what the Lord had done in her life.

Woman after woman testified how the Lord had rescued them from the pit of sin, anger, selfishness, the pain of abortion, divorce, cancer, wanting to die, addictions, childhood abuse and other things – many of our own doing.

This was very healing for me…seeing all these women who love the Lord tell their own story of God’s redemption, grace and deliverance.

I’ve never felt closer to God than I do now. No doubt the Lord Himself was in that place last night. What an amazing experience to praise God side by side with so many others.

This is me before Christ:

And this is me now:

Abandoned, weak and broken, trampled on by the circumstances of life. Yet not without a divine purpose:  to be rescued and restored by Christ alone.

      “…to comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
      The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Isaiah 61:2b-3
