Our Christmas Tree…And a Funny Kid Thing

We bought a beautiful tree – and it only took us 1 1/2 hours to pick it out! (Quite an accomplishment for us, indeed).

Nevermind that it was the FIRST tree we saw as we stepped off the horse-drawn wagon…

But enough of that.

Instead of going out and buying all new decorations for our tree, I took a vintage approach and used what I had.

Most of the ornaments came from the dollar store or were discounted 75 percent off or more after Christmas last year.

The only thing we did buy new was a strand of “twinkle” lights, or so the package said.

They were more like “blinding” and “flashing” if you ask me.

But our boys fell in love with the flashing Christmas tree lights, so what’s a parent to do? We kept the lights.

BUT, we did spread them out with our other non-flashing lights and it turned out really beautiful.

Except for one thing…

look closely…do you see it?

Yes, that is a pirate hook hanging on our Christmas tree.

Why did I leave it there, you ask?

Because it’s more important for our sons to enjoy the tree than it is for me to have a perfectly decorated one.

Just keepin’ it real.
